Yes, you can make a booking without registering or logging in on the website. However, by registering and / or logging in, you’ll be able to fast track your booking because we store basic information such as your name and email address, which you won’t have to re-enter on all your follow-up bookings. We are also able to save your preferences and store any bookings you’ve made for future dates.

No, you will not be charged. All bookings made using our website (both using the desktop and mobile phone) and our mobile application do not carry a booking fee. 

Why can't I bring my 6-year-old into an R rated film?

Children under the age of 6 will not be permitted to R-rated features at any time even when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We will require the applicable general admission ticket for ages 6-11 to all R-rated features. By eliminating the discounted child ticket we hope to further encourage a mature movie-going atmosphere for films that are geared to an older audience.

We struggled with this decision as our intent is not to dictate family values or determine what is appropriate for children. However, enough children become bored during R-rated features and subsequently disrupt fellow guests that we felt this change was necessary. We hope you see this as a small but positive step toward achieving a more enjoyable movie-going experience.

Why can't I bring outside food and beverage?

We are a for profit business which makes most of our profit from our concession items. Also, there are many hazards involved in food items we do not serve, such as hot coffee accidentally being spilled on other guests.

When does the theatre open?

Every cinemas opens half an hour before the first show of the day.

What is your cell phone policy?

All cell phones should be turned off when the movie is in progress. Even the light from your phone being opened can distract others while the film is in progress.

What is your costume policy?

Cinemas' costume policy prohibits masks, face paint, and costume props using real or imitation weapons.

What is your policy on backpacks / large bags?

Backpacks and large bags may be subject to inspection prior to admission.

Yes! Half-price Tuesdays are exclusive to SK Club members at Ster-Kinekor Theatres. Enjoy more movies more often. Remember to swipe your SK Club card when booking in order to pay only 50% of your movie ticket including IMAX & Cine Prestige, on a Tuesday.

Join SK CLUB online via www.sterkinekor.com and complete the online application form. It is FREE to join. You will receive an e-mail for you to confirm your contact details. Once you’ve confirmed your contact details, you will receive another email welcoming you to SK Club and providing you with your SK Club card number.

It depends on the popularity of that movie. Since we release movies every Friday, the least popular movies will be replaced with the new release.

No. The age restriction placed on movies will be strictly enforced. The age restrictions are set by the Film & Publications Board (FPB). Ster-Kinekor is obligated by law to adhere to these age restrictions.

2D

A 'two-dimensional' or 2D image, projects height and width - but not depth - when used in reference to moving pictures or graphic image technology. These images are projected onto the big screen to fill the height and width, but without the depth perception of a 3D format. All the latest films screened at Ster-Kinekor's more than 470 large-scale digital screens are available in 2D format.

3D

A 'three-dimensional' or 3D image that is projected onto the cinema screen displays height, width and the perception of depth. 3D imagery cannot be created without duplicating the effect of two eyes working in tandem, which allows three-dimensional perceptive effects such as depth perception. A 3D movie has two versions of every frame, each one from a slightly different angle, which mimics the way we see the world through our two eyes. This gives the illusion of three dimensions. Ster-Kinekor currently has the largest 3D footprint and features 140 state-of-the-art 3D screens at its 58 complexes across the country. To fully appreciate the impact and effect of a film's 3D images, 3D glasses are required to watch a film in 3D.

You can collect your tickets using your booking ID that you receive after booking your tickets or alternately you can swipe your credit card.

We will be unable to assist with your request. Unfortunately, seats cannot be reserved without payment. The only way to book tickets if you do not have a credit card is to pre-book them at the cinema itself, using a debit card or cash.
